Move from Trello, Asana or ClickUp

Bring your boards and projects into Bitrack from the export file your old tool gives you, with a preview before anything is created.

You don’t need to start from scratch. Trello, Asana and ClickUp each let you download your work as a file, and Bitrack turns that file into projects and tasks. Nothing connects to your old tool and no passwords or keys are needed.

You need the rights to import data, create projects and create tasks. Owners and Admins have them by default.

1. Export from your old tool

Tool How to export What becomes what
Trello On the board, open the menu, then Print, export and share → Export as JSON. One board becomes one project. Lists become columns, cards become tasks.
Asana In the project, open the project’s menu → Export → CSV. One project becomes one project. Sections become columns, subtasks become checklist items.
ClickUp Settings → Imports/Exports → Export, then choose CSV. Each list becomes a project. Statuses become columns, subtasks become checklist items.

2. Check the preview

  1. Go to Integrations → Import data.
  2. Under Moving from another tool?, choose Choose file on the right tool’s card and pick the file.
  3. The preview shows what Bitrack found, before anything is created:
    • Columns: where each column’s tasks go on your board. Bitrack guesses from the names (for example “Doing” goes to In Progress and “Done” to Done). Change any of them.
    • People: each person is matched to a teammate by email, then by name. Someone who isn’t on your team keeps their tasks unassigned.
    • For client: pick the client these projects are for, or create a new one.
  4. Tick Bring finished tasks too if you want completed work as well. By default only open tasks come over.
  5. Choose Import.

What comes over

  • Task titles, descriptions (as plain text), due dates and priorities.
  • Labels and tags, as task tags.
  • Checklists, with what was ticked.
  • Who each task is assigned to, when they’re on your team. They join the project too.

What stays behind: attachments (they live in the old tool; files can’t be fetched from there safely), comments, and archived cards or closed lists.
