What’s really different
Retainers and support, not just projects
Bitrack tracks support hours as their own thing: bundles, monthly retainers, rollover and low-balance alerts, plus tickets with response targets. Bonsai handles retainers as recurring billing, which suits a fixed monthly fee well.
Getting paid
Bonsai takes card, ACH and PayPal payments on its invoices today. Bitrack shows your bank transfer details on invoices and records partial payments and receipts; online card payments are planned.
Money beyond invoices
Bonsai adds expense tracking, bank sync and accounting integrations, with Bonsai Tax as a separate product. Bitrack has no bookkeeping, so you would keep your accounting tool alongside it.
Pricing model
Bonsai charges per user, with features unlocked by plan, so a growing team pays more per seat. Bitrack is free during early access; paid plans come later and the price is not announced yet.
Questions
Is Bitrack a good Bonsai alternative for agencies?
If your agency runs retainers, support hours and client tickets next to projects, Bitrack covers that in one place with a branded client portal. If you mainly need invoicing with card payments and bookkeeping, Bonsai may suit you better.
Can clients pay by card in Bitrack?
Not yet. Invoices carry your bank transfer details, and you record partial payments and receipts in Bitrack. Online card payments are planned.
Does Bitrack do bookkeeping or taxes like Bonsai?
No. Bitrack covers proposals, agreements, delivery, support and invoicing, and its reports cover revenue, delivery, team and clients. Keep your accounting tool for bookkeeping and tax.
Can I move my clients from Bonsai to Bitrack?
Yes. Bitrack has CSV imports, so you can export your client list and bring it in, then invite your team.
